Tornado Alarm Procedures
In the event of a tornado during a church service, the following procedures are to be followed:
- The elder or minister will advise the congregation that the ushers will dismiss everyone and notify the Sunday school/nursery.
- Ministers, trustees, ushers and any other able bodied adults should assist aged or infirmed in the evacuation process.
- The congregation, nursery and Sunday school should relocate to the nearest suggested tornado shelters (see “Fire & Life Safety Plan”). Essentially these are rooms or hallways without any exterior doors and windows.
- No one should leave the building.

Everyone is to remain where ushered until the all clear is announced.
